Of all the mysteries, the Sorrowful strike me most deeply, which of course is appropriate. Very often, as I meditate upon them, and especially upon the crucifixion, I am brought to my knees. Or, since I’m usually already on my knees, I feel compelled to stretch out, arms on the floor, face downturned, in absolute awe and remorse for everything that Christ suffered for us. On more than one occassion, I have been moved to tears.
As you meditate upon the sorrowful mysteries today, seek to relive Christ’s Passion as fully as possible. It’s so easy to squeeze our Rosary meditations into what little time we have available – driving, exercising, even folding clothes. Make today different. Start with a quiet, comfortable room where you know you will not be disturbed. Before you begin, ask the Blessed Mother to walk you through the final moments in her son’s life, and to help you learn from his sacrifice. Proceed to envision, in vivid detail, what Christ experienced. Put yourself in His place. Imagine the emotions He must have experienced, and the pain that He underwent. Consider His reasons for going through all of this. What sins weigh on your heart that contributed to His agony? What can you do today to make amends?
May God Bless You and Keep You.
