On Fire

Exodus 3:2-4 reads:

As [Moses] looked on, he was surprised to see that the bush,
though on fire, was not consumed.
So Moses decided,
“I must go over to look at this remarkable sight,
and see why the bush is not burned.”

The bush was on fire, but not cosumed… a “remarkable sight.”  Think about it – typically, a bush on fire would provide fuel for only so long, before being left wasted, ugly, and worthless.  This bush, however, continued to burn, and it did so with the fire of God.

The same happens for us, when we are filled with the Holy Spirit and on fire for Christ.  Rather than becoming used up and wasted, we become remarkable.  The fire fills us with renewed energy, vigor, and excitement.  The Holy Spirit provides a never-ending supply of fuel for the fire, allowing us to do amazing things, not through our own power, but through the power of God!  As long as we have the Holy Spirit burning within us, our fires will continue to burn, and those who recognize that fire will be drawn to investigate, just as Moses did.  Our fire will then spread to others, who will spread it to others… Imagine the possibilities.

Are you on fire?

That’s a great analogy. I never thought of it like that.
